In the mid-1500s, the Christian faith had splintered. Catholics and Protestants were at war with each other. Avalyn, a Catholic girl in England, couldn't understand why the Protestants chose death over recanting their faith. Then, she's given a Bible, illegally written in English. When she reads the scriptures for herself, which path will she chose?
